The UTS Central building is the epitome of a sophisticated, state-of-the-art learning facility. Designed to support active and collaborative learning activities across several faculties including Law and FEIT, the UTS Central building is home to a range of modern technologies. Concept AV were contracted for the fit-out of all 17 levels of this award-winning building.
The Moot Court and Law Faculty
The new Moot Court and other trial courts in UTS Central have been purposely built to reflect and simulate the real-world Australian Courts. The inclusion of modern technologies found in the NSW Supreme, District, and Local Courts is a key distinguishing feature of this facility. Concept AV fitted out these spaces with inbuilt AV systems, including video link-up capabilities to enable remote witness testimonies.
Within the law faculty section of the building, Concept AV also installed the audio-visual and video conferencing system in the new 30 seat boardroom for the faculty of law.
Collaborative Classrooms, Teaching Labs and FEIT
The UTS Central building is also home to three unique large collaborative classrooms. These spaces which have a 350 seat capacity have been designed to have no obvious front, which is clearly reflected in the extensive use of audio-visual equipment throughout the space. Concept AV fitted out multiple presenter points consisting of both projectors and projector screens, as well as LED displays, enabling smaller group work within the larger space.
The one-of-a-kind Hive Superlab remains the highlight of this project. With a 270-student capacity, this hexagonal space is centered around creating an interactive buzz, whilst also allowing up to 7 classes to run in tandem. Specialist AV has been installed in each zone, designated by different space colours. Most notably, Concept AV fitted out the spaces with bone-conduction headphones. This enables a direct transmission from the lab facilitator to the student without interrupting collaboration with peers.
Other Spaces
In addition to the aforementioned cutting edge facilities, Concept AV fitted out multiple bookable collaborative rooms with built-in screens, display panels, and meeting rooms with video conferencing capabilities.
A large 12-meter LED video wall was also installed in the Jones St Lobby for pop up exhibitions and events.
