Recognised as a leading comprehensive school for the education of boys, Sydney Church of England Grammar School, more commonly referred to as Shore School, provides students a variety of learning experiences that enhance both their intellectual and physical development.
In 2018, Shore school commenced their largest building project to date, the upgrade and rebuild of the schools aged facilities. Comprised of a pool hall, gymnasium, sports hall, weights and training areas, and teaching areas, this four-storey new build and extension was to be dedicated as a physical education centre and precinct.
Concept AV were engaged by Shore school and FDC in 2020 to deliver the audio visual solutions for the state-of-the-art facilities. The following highlights the systems in the key areas.
Pool Hall
Featuring a heated 8-lane 50m pool, this facility was designed to mirror that of a professional swimming setting. In addition to swim meets, the pool is to be used for several activities including water polo, water fitness, lifesaving training and swimming lessons. For this reason, a range of different audio visual features were integrated into the space.
Concept AV installed an OMEGA pool timing system. Complete with specialised starting blocks and touchpads, this high-tech system enables accurate timing and break detection which can be utilized in a formal race setting or for individual learning and development.
Another highlight of this space was the installation of a 5,500mm x 3,000mm LED Screen. This screen which runs with a Novapro all-in-one processor and can be used to display customised footage or operate as a scoreboard, providing the versatility required of the space.
For the space’s audio solution, a Shure wireless microphone solution with both a handheld and condenser microphone was provided. The audio output equipment consisted of in ceiling speakers, 3-way column speakers, and surface mount speakers. Additionally, Concept AV provided a Mipro Hearing augmentation system to ensure that the space catered towards individuals with a hearing impairment.
Learning Areas
Concept AV fitted out a total of 10 classrooms in the Physical Education Centre. While the standard classrooms feature interactive Smartboards with VIVI Wireless presenters, the Multipurpose studio instead utlises a Panasonic Laser Projector and 110’’ motorized projection screen with the VIVI Wireless Presenter. Williams Sound IR hearing augmentation was the integrated solution addressing hearing impairments.
